Privacy Notice for Site Visitors

This Privacy Notice describes the information Cayuga County Busted Mugshots may receive, why it is used, and when it may be shared. It applies to use of this private reference site and its features. By using the site, a visitor accepts the practices described here. Official government offices and linked services maintain their own notices and procedures.

Information Provided by Visitors

Search submissions

When a visitor types a name, place, or other search term into a search tool, that query is sent to the independent provider that operates the tool. Cayuga County Busted Mugshots does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The partner’s own privacy terms apply to the query once it is submitted.

Messages

Messages sent by email or through a contact method may include the sender’s name, email address, and the information supplied in the message. We retain that information as reasonably needed to respond or manage the inquiry. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or security.

Technical Data and Cookies

Like most websites, the site and its service providers can receive routine technical information when a page loads. This information helps diagnose errors, understand general use, and keep the service working.

  • Internet Protocol address and approximate network information
  • Browser type, version, and language settings
  • Device type, operating system, and screen-related technical details
  • Pages viewed, time spent, and links used within the site
  • Referring page or service, if one was supplied
  • Dates, times, and related log information

Cookies

Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand site traffic, remember limited settings, support advertising, or measure performance. A browser can be configured to block or delete cookies, although some functions or partner tools may then operate differently.

How Information Is Used

The information described above may be used for ordinary site operation and improvement. It is not used to issue government records or decide a person’s legal status.

  • Operate, secure, and improve the site
  • Route a submitted search query to the correct partner service
  • Understand which pages and links visitors find useful
  • Detect, investigate, and fix technical problems or abuse
  • Display advertising that may be based on general interests or activity

External Services and Links

The site links to official Sheriff, custody, court, corrections, and public-record sources, along with independent search tools. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, that provider’s privacy notice controls its own collection and handling. A public-record source may also apply laws and access limits that do not apply to this private site, including New York’s Public Officers Law §87.

Advertising partners may collect information through their own technologies and may use it across sites in accordance with their policies. We do not control those outside systems merely because an advertisement or link appears here.

Who May Receive Information

We do not sell personal information as a standalone product. Information may still be handled by service providers that make the site function or by parties when a valid legal demand requires disclosure.

  • Search partners that process a submitted query
  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks and related delivery services
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order requires it

Reasonable Security Measures

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information in our control. No internet-connected service can promise perfect security, however, and no method of transmission or storage is guaranteed to be breach-proof.

Visitors Under 18

This site is intended for adults and is not designed for people under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted personal information, contact us through Get in Touch so the request can be reviewed.

Choices About Your Information

A visitor may ask about personal information held from a direct message or other contact, subject to applicable law and verification. Available requests include:

  • Requesting a copy of applicable information held about the visitor
  • Asking to correct information that is inaccurate
  • Requesting deletion where retention is not required
  • Opting out of certain processing when that option is available

This Privacy Notice may change as the site, its partners, or applicable requirements change. A revised version becomes effective when posted here with its updated effective date.
